Frequently Asked Questions

What is financial counseling?

Financial counseling is structured similarly to talk therapy or life coaching. The counselor and client work together in a confidential and nonjudgemental way. Unlike traditional counseling, I work with clients to help them achieve goals through action plans, tools, strategies, and tactics. Together, we tackle financial problems, prepare for life changes, or build wealth. I provide financial counseling without selling investments to my clients.

How can I check that you are a Certified Financial Planner and an Accredited Financial Counselor?

My certification is maintained through the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. You may search my status by last and first name. For my accreditation, please click here.

Do you accept insurance?

Financial counseling and financial planning are not covered by insurance.

Do you accept credit cards?

I practice what I preach by not adding to my client’s credit card debt. I accept payment through Venmo or checks payable to Freedom Financial Counseling, LLC.

Do you offer a discount for active military and veterans?

Since I offer my services on an ability-to-pay basis, discounts are irrelevant. However, free financial counseling services exist for our active military through Department of Defense subcontractors and others. Check MilitaryOneSource for details.

Do you meet with clients via web conference?

At this time, I meet with my clients exclusively via FaceTime, Gmail meetings, phone, or Zoom. Contact me for details.
